In recent weeks, semi-officially, that everything possible is more expensive. Over coffee I've noticed it's a long time. And on February 28 will again increase the price of coffee by 50 cents. Of course, also increase electricity prices, water prices, ticket prices and fuel prices. Cigarettes, travel and health insurance are not excluded from the price increase. One could go on ...
I get upset enough on it. By and large you go we are still good. And there are plenty of things that's free for everyone. This includes, for example, God's love. "Oh," I hear one or tell others. "I am neither tired of, even by my children get new clothes on the body!" That would leave the debate. Fact remains: God's love is free. Similarly, His grace, His faithfulness, His mercy, His patience, His joy. One could go here. There would be peace of God, which is free, His gentleness, management, forgiveness - NO! STOP! God's forgiveness is not free. Which is paid for! Which is paid for! Which is bought at a huge price, a truly heavenly price. A price increase of no more. In 1 Peter 1:18-19 we read:
Because you know, that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain, handed down from fathers change, but with the precious blood of Christ, as an immaculate and spotless Lamb.
And Acts 20:28 says:
You shall shepherd the church of God,
which he has rendered by the blood of his son.
Precious and expensive it could not have been. The blood of Jesus is referred to as precious and placed in contrast to transient things. No wonder: It is the blood of the Son of God. This precious blood of Jesus was the price that was paid to ensure our forgiveness. More expensive it gets.
How about if we would like to thank in the next 2 weeks each time we hear of a price increase or read the Lord for the dear price paid for our forgiveness and no charge will ever be asked of us . That will surely fill us anew with joy and balance.
