The new pastor preached his first sermon in the new community of Christian charity toward the homeless. All were enthusiastic. That was quality. After the service were all kinds of church members to the young pastor, to shake his hand and to express how they were touched by his preaching.
When the church the next Sunday sermon on the same charity towards homeless people heard, discussed the elders of the community undertook, but nothing. It was assumed that the preparations for a seminar examination the young pastor had left no time for a new sermon.
As one on the third Sunday again heard the same sermon, invited the elders to take a leadership meeting urgent. They asked the minister whether he had for no other sermons. "Well, I have prepared a series of sermons. I'm waiting for the community that first sermon to heart and acts upon something in the name of Jesus does for the homeless. Then I get to the next topic. "
Sometimes we must hear God's concern several times before we "take." Sometimes his popularity and his promises to hear more times before we internalize it. So today the text from Matthew 6:25-34:
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink it, or about your body, what you wear him! Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: for they sow nor reap, they gather not into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who can be worried of you by add to its lifespan a single digit? And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow! They toil not and are not crazy, I tell you, however, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of them. Now, if God clothes the grass of the field today and tomorrow is cast into the oven, so dressed, he will not do much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or What will we drink? or: 'What shall we wear? For after all these things the Gentiles seek, but your heavenly Father knows that you need all that. Seek ye first the kingdom of God instead, and his righteousness, and it will be all this added! Therefore you shall not have to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day is enough trouble of its own.
We are aimed not so! But we should do something instead: seek God's kingdom. So, let's be honest: Is not that a bit unrealistic? To worry about regarding food, drink and clothing - and instead seek God's kingdom. Is not that unrealistic? BUT! it is! Just hit. But we Christians are now times, stranger in the world, with citizenship in heaven. And this is also our gain! Because of the home center, we are provided with everything we need. We can concentrate fully on the cause of the Kingdom of God - and God is fully focused on providing us with what we need. Cool!
